So this was last summer. Took me around 3 months from start to completion working on it on my free time. I have zero experience in building decks, however I’m somewhat handy. I had some help from two other family members. No before pics but I’ll explain what was there prior. When we first moved in, we had a company install a deck and patio. After 10 years of stripping and staining it every year, it was time for it to go. The patio went to shit after a year. The corner pavers were constantly sinking causing me to lift the pavers and repack sand every summer. It too was time for it to go.I kept the framing of the existing deck adding onto it and going over the patio. I did replace a few boards on the existing frame and made sure things were still level and as square as possible. For the experienced deck builders, please feel free to point out what I did wrong or should have done differently. I did what I thought was right watching tutorials online and going over the code book from our local code enforcement Bureau.Album: https://ift.tt/2Oeshk2 via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2vjMddZ
