Hi guys,So I am going to lay Vinyl plank this weekend but I am caught between a rock and hard place on how to do so and here is why.I have existing 5yr old engineered hardwood (20MM thick or 0.78" inch) that we want to remove as it is beaten up pretty badly from the previous owner. This is only in our living room and it transitions into the rest of the main floor which is tile. I am having problems figuring out if I just lay the new vinyl plank, which is anywhere between 5MM (0.19inch) to 10MM (0.39inch) depending on what we choose, over top of the old. OR ripping it out and putting down another sub floor to make up the difference. I am not so much looking for what would be easier. I just want it to have a nice transition / level with the old floor and not have to re-trim the entire main floor. Any suggestions ? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Azu94Y
