I have been using Spotify for over 5 years, occasionally cancelling my premium membership to use the ad-supported service. Recently, I have been getting fed up with the number of ads and how obnoxious they are. I tried a free trial of Deezer Premium, which was pretty good (had a couple issues with playback not loading). Overall it's kind of similar to Apple Music, but I let the trial run out because I still don't want to spend $10/month.
The other day I started using the ad-supported service on Android, and I noticed how few ads it played. There is no on-demand service (at least on the mobile version) but right now I have been listening for about 75 minutes in shuffle mode and have only listened to 1 30-second ad. I still haven't got around to testing the Windows app, but I'm pretty happy with the free service compared to Spotify's free service. For anyone looking to choose a playlist and get some work done, or for during a workout, this seems like a good option. I would compare it to something like Pandora but with much fewer ads.
Does anyone have experience with the desktop app or other free streaming/radio services? Besides Deezer and SomaFM, I haven't found that many options that are close to ad-free.
