Hey Reddit, I moved into my home about 6 months ago and I'm looking to run some heavier electric to my detached garage and was wondering if my plan would be considered up to code or if I need to make another plan. Right now it has a 12/2 (grounded) running to it from the breaker box with a 20 breaker.That's not nearly enough to run my welder or other equipment.I was looking to install a separate box in the garage and hook the new box directly into the main breaker in the house. I plan on using either 8 or 6ga outdoor cable since it would be around 50ft to go from one box to the other.The house has a 120A box (stated on the side) and I only plan on having 80A in the garage. I don't plan on connecting the wires up myself, just setting up the new box and running the cable up to the old one.Any help is appreciated. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Jy6KQp
