Hi DIY,I'm currently installing a paver pathway about 36" wide and around 200' long total, which will eventually connect to a 700' ft2 patio. I have a massive heap (roughly 8 yards) of pea gravel left over from some other projects and was planning to use it as a base (5" below 1" of sand). After learning that this is basically a horrible idea, I'm wondering if it would be okay to stabilize it in the base by mixing it with paver sand, and then still adding the top 1" of sand. If that works, how much do I add? If it doesn't, is there some other stuff that I could mix it with? I have seen a lot of stone dust and crushed rock combos. So I was also considering adding stone dust, but it seems hard to find around here (northern Utah).I did read a few posts from guy who installed several paver patios and used only pea gravel as a base, and he claimed that after 10 years, none of them have had sagging. Please help me DIY, you're my only hope! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2OiLa6d
