Thanks, everyone, for your attention.
essentially, the issue is as follows:
I am leaving for medical school on September 1. I decided my last day at my company would be August 7 so as to give me some time to relax on vacation and get settled in before I go into four years of school.
I was notified Friday that the company is offering bonuses to employees who are on payroll through August 19 in the amount of 10k. This is a lot of money and could be very helpful while I am in school. However, I have already spent around $2000 on vacation expenses that are non-refundable. Not only that, staying through the 19 would really not give enough time to sufficiently regroup before I go to school and I feel it will leave me frazzled.
What should I do? Stay and take the 10k or keep my vacation as planned?
