This has been very frustrating, but my parents and I (22) filed for FAFSA this past May for student loans. This college I'm attending is the same college I attended last semester with the same student loans that was covered all my tuition. Bearing in mind, I was using the dorms and my student loans covered that too, however this year, I am not going to do the dorm option.
So the main issue is that my FAFSA did not get processed at all during the summer and when I spoke to the Financial Aid department of my college, they claim they didn't receive my FAFSA mail until yesterday and would take 7-10 business days to process it. Well that's just great because their payment deadline is July 25th, tomorrow. Not only is my FAFSA not processed, which means I can't afford to pay out of pocket for roughly ~$5,000 but that also means I'll lose all my class spots because they'll purge my class schedule and then if somehow they process FAFSA within the next week after tomorrow's payment deadline, I'll have to register again for those classes and be put on a waiting list, and the classes I signed up for fill up pretty quick.
How common is this? What's my best course of action because I did my part to fill out FAFSA, months before this upcoming semester and now I'm going to be punished by losing those spots in the classes I registered for early in May too.
