I started a pretty major decluttering effort with my 4 bedroom house this weekend with the goal of using the 90/90 rule. If I haven't used an item in the last 90 days or don't plan to use it in the next 90 days, I need to sell, donate, or trash it. I'm struggling though! Here are some examples:
1) Seasonal clothes - I live in Alabama, so jackets and heavy coats definitely fall outside of the 90/90 rule.
2) Tools - I have tons of tools that may only get used every other year or so, but when I need them, they save tons of money and time. Take my automotive brake bleeder for example. I use it every 2 years or so to bleed and replace brake fluid in the family cars. The dealership would charge over $100 per car for this every time!
3) Children clothes and toys - We have 1 child with plans for at least 2 more. It wouldn't make any sense to get rid of all of the clothes and toys that can be reused.
4) Candles - We have candles we pull out for different seasons to keep the house smelling nice. Maybe we can keep less on hand once these burn out, but if we are going to use them, I'm not sure why we would get rid of them.
Am I just making excuses for not getting rid of things? Help!!!
