Hey everyone. I’ve always been an avid screen-user (tv, Internet, video games, social media, smart phones, the works). I noticed it seemed to be more of an addiction than anything these days and forced myself to take a day away from screens. I managed to go until 2 or 3pm only, but what I discovered was startling. During those hours of no screen-time the crushing, melancholy depression I’ve felt my entire life just sort of lifted. When I started using screens again that afternoon/evening, it came back.

Is it possible this is actually a source of depression for me, and if so, why on earth could this be? Surely this isn’t the cause of my lifelong depression? And if it is, what is a moderate amount that wouldn’t have these kinds of affects without completely isolating myself from modern conveniences and technology?

tl;dr Experience has me believing that screen-time directly correlates to my depression. Why could this be? Do we know?
