So my husband was admitted to the hospital with intense abdominal pains that ended up being appendictis, diagnosed after many invasive exams. Husband had the surgery, and had to stay in the hospital for about three days after.
Now we got a bill for $150K. It is itemized so it shows what we got charged but still. Our insurance will not cover any of it. Apparently, the attending staff are out of network despite the hospital being in our network. The hospital won't budge on the price. Insurance won't work with hospital.
I'm unemployed currently. Husband works an office job 9-5. Altogether, our (his) income's about $2,600 a month, less than half of which goes toward rent, 1/3 toward utilities, and the rest toward other costs. Yes, we've been living on the edge for a while...
What are our options now? We can't afford this. I don't think we can even afford monthly installments of this either. What do we do now?
