I had a holiday booked with my boyfriend for months and months. He lives in the USA, I'm based in the UK and we're going to Greece so it's costing a fair amount.
He has just found out that during the time he is meant to be away, there is OSHA training going on at the factory he works at and his supervisor has now said he is unable to grant him leave (despite granting it months ago). This is all because of this training that we were not notified of until yesterday. So now everything is all booked and I'm panicking.
He is now refusing to come because he is worried they will fire him for not doing the training and not turning up for two weeks, despite giving them months notice of the holiday. I'm pretty devastated.
Is this wrongful termination? What is likely to happen? Any advice appreciated - should he take the holiday or should he stay? He could really use the holiday. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Thanks all for your help. He doesn't have much time to decide because the flight is in about 24 hours and obviously due to the weekend I don't think he has anyone to talk to at work about it. I'm going to try and talk to one of his work buddies to see if there's anything he can do. If it were me, I would have quit by now anyway, he's only in it for the money. The work environment is pretty awful. Thanks again all!!
