an unfortunate effect of the consumerist world we live in is that everything seems to be competitive, even well-being. It is ridiculous that expensive meditation retreats have popped up since Silicon Valley found out about Buddhism, for example. People push themselves to go hard as possible and get as swole as possible in the gym.
I actually feel better now that I have dropped meditation from my daily schedule, but instead come home and lie down and hang out with my cat for 20 minutes. Maybe it is all the pressure to perform that made meditation not work for me.
What are your thoughts?
