We have vanity dormer windows on our house and after living here for almost two years and wondering what was up there, we were finally inspired to look based on yesterday's since deleted post: https://ift.tt/2tDYwRT window is functional and sits above the front door. The other window, as well as a third window, go no where. https://ift.tt/2KzURLm after seeing OP's outcome with additional square footage behind his vanity dormer window, we strapped a selfie stick to another stick and tried to look in a window. We found an electrical socket inside and called someone to borrow an extension ladder.Day two. With an extension ladder. We assume the outlets were for decorative candles in the window or something. There isn't a subfloor and the trusses used weren't for additional square footage.Seems like it would take a lot of construction to turn this into usable space? What's odd about this house is there is no access to a crawl space in the attic. You can't get to these windows from the inside.TL;DR - vanity windows may not have awesome bonus rooms within them, but it's worth a look anyhow. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2lHSWJR
