Thanks to everyone that has commented on my previous post. I went to the supermarket with my mom and also had a real talk with her.

When we went to the supermarket I made most of the choices of what was going in the cart and it turns out that by buying nutritious food instead of cookies and bad stuff we were able to save money. Bought a bunch of eggs (84), oats, pasta and rice. We are hard boiling the eggs in batches in order to take to school as snacks or even breakfast. As expected, my mother doesn't know how to buy when she is in the supermarket and gets overpowered by her empty stomach when shopping. We managed to get 2 bags of pasta for the price that she usually pays for 1 (different brand).

As for the talk with my mother, I said that I didn't think that we were in a position where she could choose to work 5 or 7 days a week (she had to ask my father to transfer her money in order to go to the supermarket) and she said that her back hurt from being in the car for so long so she takes weekends off to rest (lie in bed for 48 straight hours). Even though she said this, she went out on Sunday to work.

So overall I think that this has been a great improvement so far. My mom still has hope that she will get a real job (teacher or school position) but it is very unlikely as she is getting old.
