If this isn’t the right place to ask this question please let me know and I’ll move it!
This past week I went for my teeth cleaning at the dentist. I go 2 times a year and it has always been 100% covered by insurance. I just got a bill for $54 for “oral hygiene instructions”! The dentist saw me for maybe 30 seconds and just told me to “keep up the good work” because my teeth and gums were perfectly healthy. I never received any “instructions.”
This seems ridiculous to me, I was never notified that my insurance stopped covering that procedure code. I called my insurance and was told in the future to verify codes before they are performed. Can I fight this charge with the dentist? Am I basically screwed? $54 doesn’t seem like a lot, but I’m newly starting out on my own so to me it’s a lot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Edit: Thanks so much guys!!! I called my Dentist and they agreed to remove this charge!
