Hi! In an effort of simplicity (in a sense), my SO and I would like to understand the process of building our own house. We really want to live in something under 900 sq/ft and would like it to be as energy efficient and calming as possible. We're both pretty big homebodies and I also work remotely so I'm at home all day. I love Japanese architecture and when we visited we just felt, free? I dont know how to describe it... But I'd love to replicate that in the US somehow. I've been interested in Tiny houses since I was 12 but were thinking a little bigger than one of those. Has anyone here built their own house and have any book/youtube/practical advice they could share?
I know mortgages and loans aren't always everyone's cup of tea here but a home would mean a lot to me personally and I'd love to understand whats ahead of us if we go this route. Thank you!
