Hi everyone! I'm new here but I was recommended this subreddit by a friend of mine. I have a collections stain on my credit report so I requested a pay for delete and a validation of my debt. After over a month I finally got a letter back saying they cannot validate my debt but that they will continue trying. "Our attempts to verify this debt and owing will continue but the debt will not be re-reported to the credit reporting agencies".

This is a victory for me but the question is...what now? With the wording it sounds like they can no longer put this on my credit score (this letter was just delivered today so currently it's still there) but they sound like they will continue searching and in the meantime, the letter says I still have a balance. Should I just ignore this collector now? What is the best course of action going forward?
