I have had a dream for most of my adult life to have a plot of secluded land in the mountains but it's just a pipe dream. For starters, I don't have the knowledge and set of skills that it takes to live off of the land. For another, serious health issues have left me with a medical dependence on vitamin supplements to live. I really like the idea of r/simpleliving and I consider myself, for the most part, a minimalist. I don't have much in the way of furniture and the computer and laptop that I own I bought second hand so they wouldn't go into a land fill. As for clothes, I am also really basic.
I am at a crossroads in my life. I burned out in my information technology career, and at 41, I am going back to school to learn to be a mechanic so I can have some useful skills. Is there something I can do that would give me a balance of the seclusion I desire with easyish access to services?
