Hi,I recently bought an oak table from Crate & Barrel that is unfinished (ridiculous). The wood is beautiful and is fumed all the way through, giving it a grayish tone. I decided to seal it with a matte wipe on poly by Fusion. I sanded the table smooth with 220 then 400. I applied the poly with a rag but I found it a little thick and it dried too quickly. I was struggling to get an even finish, it was ugly. I waited 12 hours and sanded it down with 400 but it was still very streaky/splotchy. In my frustration I sanded it again with 220 and the splotchiness reduced by about half.I'm rather lost in what I should do next and afraid to put on a second coat. The manufacturer recommend 2 coats so that means the next is probably final.Pics: https://ift.tt/2uQpZm9 via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2uNeT1a
