I'm a long time lurker on Frugal and thought I'd share some my cell phone plan strategies and savings. This is obviously YMMV since X mobile carrier might not be decent in your area, plan might not be available, I don't need a family plan, etc. So my current cell phone plan is the T-Mobile Simple Choice Plan with 10 lines. Each line comes with 4.5GB LTE data and unlimited talk and text. Each month it cost around ~$170, coming out to be about $17 per person. Since I use the US Bank Card Plus credit card with 5% on cell phone bill category, I get 5% back since I'm bill payer. My family members sends me batches of $100-200 and I just deduct from it each month. Once its depleted, I email them and ask for more. We've had this going for the last 10 years.
Now, I know the Simple Choice Plan isn't available anymore. If I had to start over now, I'd probably go with Cricket's family plan (AT&T MVNO), which comes out to be $20 a person for 2GB data and unlimited talk/text if you have 4-5 people. For Verizon fans out there, I'd go with Total Wireless. They have 25GB of shared data with unlimited talk/text for $95 (~$25 a person). I haven't really looked into Sprint or T-Mobile plans in a while, so I don't have any updated information about them.
Tell me what your cell phone plan setup is so we can shared information and maybe save some extra money.
