I've just started teaching myself how to make models and I'm having some difficulty with finding one of my enterprise values.
One company I've chosen to learn with is STN.TO. When I go through their 2015 annual report (from sedar) I can't seem to find information on their minority interest. I found it on their 2017 so I wasn't too concerned, assuming the amount was 0. I cross checked yahoo finance to see that it shows a minority interest of $800000 for both years. The reason I'm worried is because the values on yahoo for 2017/2016 match what I have, leading me to believe that yahoo is accurate and I missed something.
So i guess my questions are, is the financial data on yahoo 100% accurate? Should I try searching the pdf for something other that "minority interest" or "non-controlling interests"? Or am I getting my first taste of some creative accounting? I don't want to just throw the extra 800000 onto the sheet because it will screw with the rest of the values that all match up perfectly, but without it I'm not going to be able to calculate an accurate EV for those years.
