I need to buy a new sofa. I've had my current one for a few years, and it hasn't held up well. Cushions can't be rotated, seams have ripped, stains that can't be removed. Rather than buy a brand new sofa every few years, I've decided to to buy something that's a bit more of an investment.
I mostly found myself so confused over all the different options out there. Was Ashley's Furniture the quality I wanted? (Nope.) Is Pottery Barn really any good? (They're decent, but overpriced.) Are there some brands I've never heard of that might give me a better bang for my buck? (Bassett)
What's nice about this list is that it breaks it down using an analogy to cars. Like which furniture brands are the high-end Bentley, the mid-range Honda, and the affordable Kia.

Beyond that, I'm curious what the rest of the community thinks about furniture both necessary (e.g. tables, chairs, mattresses) and decorative items.
