Throwaway account.
Not quite sure this is the best sub, but.
I'm 17 years old, 18 in ~4 months, and my parents are separated, pending a divorce. In the process, my mother has began to have financial issues, and has completely cleaned 1.4K out of my savings account, held in joint by the both. I'm left with 200 dollars in my checking account. All of this money was earned with part-time jobs and an internship. The bank is USAA.
She had initially called me a week prior to ask me about borrowing 120 dollars, to be repaid at the next paycheck. When I checked my account the next day, all 1400 dollars that were in the account were missing. She says she promises to pay it back: however, apparently she had cleaned my younger sister's savings account out, and has been taking the money intended for my older sister's phone bill and keeping it for herself.
Both her and my father have a history of alcohol abuse: to the point where she once crashed while drunk, driving my sister and I home from school. This was ~2014.
What options do I have for recourse, if any? USAA seems to have good rates, especially for insurance but I'm hesitant about depositing any money from my current job into the account with the current situation.
Thanks.
