So I've finally got around to doing some repairs I have been meaning to do. The ceiling in our tv room started cracking a few years ago. About 10 years ago we had a contractor come in and remove two 1/2 walls (room seperator?) They removed the walls and fixed it all up in about the days. The walls look great the ceiling started to crack. I have been watching some videos on the correct way to do this and it seems that removing the old tape, cleaning, mudding and retaping is the correct method.I started cutting some of the tape out today and some nice big chunks of it came off but some other pieces were really stuck. I ended up using a two 1 1/2 in putty knife to remove the other pieces still embedded in the compound. Is there an easier way to remove the tape or is pulling and scraping the prefered method. Do I need to remove all the compound down to the sheet rock? I cant see that happening without gouging out the drywall (which I'd rather not do)I'll take some more pics tomorrow but this is what I have done currently Thanks ceiling, about a 2 1/2 foot section via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2pwJL12
