My staircase was carpeted when I bought the place, ripped the carpet out and the risers are beat to heck from nails and who knows what else before. I painted them white and it still looks super ratty. I have about a half inch of overhang on the steps so I was thinking about covering the risers, preferably in something scuff resistant.
