Different people have different requirements when it comes to mobile phone usage and in my case I tend not to talk much on the phone but instead use mostly text messaging and I wanted to be able to use a little data occasionally but don't need a lot since I have good WIFI access most if the time. Many companies seem to require you to buy in at around $40+ per month to get any data at all which seemes kind of excessive considering my very limited data needs.
After shopping around some I eventually settled on a customized Tello (a Sprint MVNO) plan that gives me 100 voice minutes, unlimited text messaging and 200MB of data per month for $8.71. If you reach the data limit it switches to unlimited data at 64kbs which would be super slow for most modern web surfing purposes but is actually still acceptable for receiving text email or text only instant message chatting or participating in text based forum discussions like Reddit. I could easily bump up to 1GB of data per month for $10/month+tax but the reality is that I don't even use the 200MB each month due to good WIFI access.
Anyway, I'm just wondering what other low cost options people have found that might be comparable or an improvement to my current choice.
