Hello, I’ll be living on my own soon (as I go off to college), and I have a very bad way of dealing with money. I spend A LOT of it on clothing, makeup, expensive food, things on Amazon, online subscriptions, books, etc each month (I don’t want to say how much; I’m ashamed of the number). I want to be honest - I grew up very privileged, and I never had to worry about money. I am very lucky, and I know this is my own fault, of course. I realize how terrible this is and want to stop spending so much money (not even my own!) on things I don’t need/value. I recently got a job at a restaurant, and I thought that would help my spending habit. Turns out, it did not. It seems like I spend even more.
I need help being more mindful of what I buy and how much I spend. It seems overwhelming, but I want to prove to my parents that I can be responsible with $. Eventually, I want to be financially independent. If anyone can point me to some resources/has any advice, thank you!
