One evening last week our oven died. There was no power to the clock and none of the controls did anything. Its 12 yrs old so we feared the huge cost of having to replace it.

After some investigation we found that the main breaker for the oven had tripped (its wired into its own socket) and after turning it back on the clock timer was back and the light was on, but it wouldn't heat. The grill element was working so it looked like the main fan heating element had burned out, which isn't surprising given how old it was. All the repair men in our area wanted £40+ just to come and look at it with parts and labour to be added on later.

A quick search on youtube showed how easy it was to remove and replace the element and we found a compatible one on amazon for £7. It arrived on wednesday and after about 30 mins of work our oven is now back in operation! Feeling pretty good about my newly acquired oven repair skills.
