My current 1999 Craftsman LT2000 that came with my house is starting to break down more and more, so I think it's time to get something new.

Requirements: 1. Manuverability - I've got about 1/2 an acre, but with lots of trees and obstacles - 2. A hitch - Since we get all the leaves in the fall I also need a hitch on the tractor for a leaf collector, so this leaves out some Zero turn monsters. 3. No gearshifter/clutch - A hydrostatic drive (the kind with 1 forward pedal, 1 reverse) would be great too, as I currently shift all the time going around this obstacle course of a yard. 4. Best mulching - yard gets full sun, so tons of thick grass. I have to mow twice a week in peak growing season currently.

I was looking at 3 models based on the latest Consumer Reports:

  1. John Deere X350
  2. Craftsman 27042
  3. Cub Cadet XT2 LX42

Does anybody have any other recommendations? I think the Cub Cadet has a clutch so that might be out, and the JD is more that I wanted to spend. Looking to spend $2000, since bagging / mulching kits add more on top of that.
