I'm cooking at home more now (I work at home) and this has a number of advantages:
-
I don't have to drive anywhere for lunch / dinner (20-40 minutes saved).
-
Meals are amazingly good
-
Super convenient to cook.
Basically I cook a bunch of rice, spaghetti, dried pasta, etc. That and salads. They keep pretty well.
The meat is mostly frozen and I buy it in bulk.
I throw it in the fridge 24 hours before and it's thawed. Then I throw it on the grill.
You MIGHT need some gear but the cost amortizes away.
I bought a BBQ grill, chest freezer, rice cooker. Maybe $800 max.
My average meal cost is about $3-4 ... but this is with amazingly high quality food.
Also, I've lost about 50 lbs eating this way. I mean not JUST because I'm eating this way. I've also been really focused on health and work out 3-5x a week
