So I took a big pay-cut last year to accept a new job and have since really been broke for a year and have not been able to keep up on any spending on replacement items in my wardrobe (among many other things). I just got a new job, with pay raise, and I filed for my tax return so I want to reward myself (because it's been a really hard year).
My questions are: Do I just buy one reward item? Work on replenishing one section of my wardrobe at a time? If I splurge a little on an item or I buy more than one thing, will it have a negative impact on my savings plan?
I'm really fighting the urge to just go on a spree after only being able to afford the absolute necessities for over a year (after slowly draining my savings account due to amount of pay-cut taking my last job).
The categories are: shoes (appropriate and comfortable for a more professional work environment), pants (also for work but also looking at styles that could be worn outside of work), underwear (a couple bras are old, but I really should buy new panties too), shirts (blouses that can be worn at work and otherwise)
