Edit: im not going to sue my employer. Thats just family business for you. Ill be applying elsewhere.
(RANT) First, some context: I do roughly 4-5k miles a month. I travel 90%, and see my family on Friday, Sat, Sunday. The rest is staring at shitty hotel walls and praying I don't pick up bed bugs. I give the company my 5pm-8am M-F.
Previously, we pay nothing and report our personal vs company mileage. On average my benefit was only $50/month. With the new program, I am now expected to be paying for $190 for a company vehicle that I use for company work. I have no ability to opt out. Fuel will still be split into personal / work. I'm livid. This makes it so that i'm making LESS money than I was hired for, 2 years ago.
The company also refused to provide "proof" that this benefit favors employees. HR just says, we worked it out don't worry.
RE: "But think of the maintenance and insurance savings!!" Sure, that's great and all but...
- I use this car 100 miles personal use a month MAX
- A lease would give me the same maintenance options for roughly the same price range (This is the most basic model)
- The vehicle is woefully unsafe for the amount of time i'm spending on the road (ford fusion, RIP)
- So I don't have a personal lapse in insurance, I still have to keep up an insurance policy for myself.
