Hey all,I was just about to leave for work and I tried to turn off my hall light, but realised that:The position of the switch won't change - it's jammed; The section of metal faceplate directly under the switch is hot. Some background: I've lived in the flat 2 years. My hallway has 2 switches at opposite ends that both power the same lights. Roughly a month ago I noticed a weird thing began happening where occasionally you'd have to flick one, nothing would happen, so you'd also then have to go flick the other. Eventually some combination of this would turn on the light. By complete coincidence, this began happening the same day I had a guy over installing a few awkward plug sockets in my living room. As plugs and lighting aren't linked I assume that this is, indeed, coincidence.Today I turned the hall light on at one end while I got ready for work, and then went to turn it off at the front-door end, and the switch was jammed and wouldn't move. So, as I had to leave for work, I turned the lights to the whole house off at the fusebox, so I will deal with it after work.Could this just be wear and tear on the light switch (who knows how long it had been there prior to me moving in)? Or does this indicate something more sinister with the wiring?Any input would be greatly appreciated as I am useless with wiring and anything electrical! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2BBCyn7
