I currently have a Macbook Pro Mid 2010 model, and I've kept it running on MAC OS 10.9.5 (lol) just to prolong the life of it because I know updating Apple software on older hardware is where things start to really fall apart. I mainly use it for Adobe CS6 programs and watching some movies and shows that I have stored on an external hard drive.
I wanted to download a program yesterday that required MAC OS 10.10 or later, and when I went to upgrade, sure enough, 10.10 is so old that it isn't available in the App Store anymore heh... My only option is to upgrade to Sierra but I know my computer won't be able to handle that. After looking into it, I found options about getting a new SSD to replace the hard drive, but because my laptop is so old, I should probably go about replacing the battery too since I never have, and at that point it sounds like I should just get a new, better laptop.
I don't NEED a new computer now, it's nothing urgent, but I was wondering if I should just buy the new replacement parts (~$300-$400 tops for everything) or buy a new laptop so I can keep that one for yet another 8+ years?
I understand that saving money is the better financial option, but saving a couple grand over the course of this year and buying a new Macbook Pro would save me the hassle of buying parts and replacing everything myself.
Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
