Very sad story. My sibling had this great teacher in elementary school. She was bullied and he was one of the only teachers to stand up for her. My sibling ran into this teacher at the store and thanked him for his help when she was a kid. They got to talking and he told her how he no longer had a house because he had taken out a heloc to pay for his daughter's very expensive private art school. The payments were to much so he foreclosed. He's now renting a room from friends at a very discounted rate. He also had to leave the school district where he taught for 20+ years to work at a very rural district to help get some loan relief.
It's a very sad story. At least he'll have his teaching pension, but many others aren't so lucky. People should not sacrifice their house or their retirement just so their kids can go to a private school. The kicker is this girl is probably going to be moving back home when school is done and expect her parents to support her.
Go to a state school folks.
