Hello all, over the past couple years my mind has really changed to how I view life and how to improve the quality of it, make it more simple, less materialistic and free myself. This first started once I really dove into what God has planned for his followers and figuring out my purpose in life, then slowly I noticed that I was having thoughts about the past, before the internet really took over and remember being fond of those times. You know when people talked face-to-face more. So I have been off-loading and simplifying. I first started selling all my movies, games, consoles, and all other things I didn't need, my TV as well and other small gadgets. Then I deleted Facebook, SnapChat, Google+, and basically committed a social media suicide. I had deleted Facebook in the past and was off for a little over a year and came back for the election, to fight the information war, then realized Facebook had gotten much worse by the end of that and so deleted it again. There won't be a third time. People I noticed are becoming less social and spending a lot of wasted time sharing endless memes, pictures of their meals, cat videos and then add in everything else it was like information saturation. Saturation of information that wasn't needed. I tried all the ways to manage the content shown to me but that was just adding more complication so I said screw it, no more. I have felt so much better since doing it. Now I am down to the final items. I am trying to organize all my accounts and emails and start recording all the information and accounts and then will tackle my email and filter things. As well as papers that I keep, will be scanning them and then saving on flash drives. It's funny, but I am at a point in my life where I am not fond of having possessions.

People started getting worried about me selling everything off like I was suicidal or something. That's how far I have taken it. eBay helped a lot, not much luck with Craigslist. Now before I buy something I think to myself, "how hard or time consuming would it be to get rid of that item once I possess it"? Once I got through the hard items I struggled to sell then it was easy.

I even tried to go to a dumb phone, bought an old flip phone and found a T-Mobile Pre-paid SIM with a $3 a month plan for 30 calls/texts and then .10 cents each additional call/text after that, a month plan but the phone was too old to take advantage of the newer signals so service was very bad. So I need to find a phone that's in-between dumb and smart. I use the application Google Authenticator now so a dumb-phone isn't an option as I use 2-Way Authentication for most of my accounts.

Anyway, it's not easy getting to a simpler life but it's worth it and I am glad to have found this sub-reddit. Will definitely be reading your posts. Cheers to simpleliving!
