This is a staircase to our basement. I had the walls painted and gaps caulked less than a year ago. The wall has moisture so I'm sure that doesn't help (we have put several thousand dollars into waterproofing the basement including a drainage system in every wall, french drain around the house, dehumidifier, sealing the outside where possible, oversized gutters, and a fancy sump pump that removes water quickly - so fuck, I don't think there is anything else to do). I could recaulk, but I don't know if it would last. Should I just add trim? If so what kind? The skirt board doesn't go all the way to the bottom because the stairs got wider I guess (there is no separation where the skirt is). I don't think I have the skills to add on to the original skirt board.Picture: http://ift.tt/2lJ5qkN via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2lMM25A
