Hi all,
I'm 44 years old, have terminal cancer, probably with a year or two left. I'm trying to figure out the best thing that I can do to help my partner financially after I'm gone.
I've had to stop working, and unfortunately, never thought about getting a life insurance policy outside of the one that I had as a part of my work benefits prior to being diagnosed with cancer.
I do have a small retirement plan that she is the sole beneficiary. It's currently just under $50k.
We are not married. It would make our financial situation worse actually because I wouldn't qualify for the SSD that I receive if we were.
What can I do to improve my finances for her after I'm gone? If I'm not including enough information, let me know what you need to know. Thank you.
