I woud like to clarify this will be a long post

I am at a loss and need some advice. Rather my father does and quick.

Some background information: My father worked for a company for 12 years before we were informed we had to move. So, we went from renting a house to being persuaded into buying a house by the company manager. They gave him a $10,000 loan directly from the company in order to purchase a house. At a rate of 2.91% interest rate from the bank. He is now on a grandfather clause in our city. To put it simply he pays $250 every two weeks while other families are paying anywhere from $500 to $1000 every two weeks. This is pretty good.

Shortly after purchasing the house, he suffered kidney failure. He nearly died. Not only has he faced kidney failure and practicing dialysis, he has also had a hip replacement, a knee replacement and defeated cancer. Obviously, this has been hard on us financially. This is just a bit of background to understand his financial situation so bare with me, please.

Well, he was so eager to buy a house he jumped into it too quick without legal representation. So, not only had he been confronted by legal representation from the company who gave him the loan after five years (next to no payments because he's on Federal disability payments; he sorted this!). He is now behind on land taxes by nearly $2100 and owes $4100 on Strata fees. He now has an appointment to discuss his equity and to discuss settling his debts by claiming bankruptcy because he cannot keep up with payments.

He sought out assistance from the Provincial government but he recently found out he only qualifies for $100 or less. At this point he is about $6300 in debt and Strata has now hired a lawyer to represent them to seek legal action against his overdue balance.

What I'm asking is, is there anyone I can talk to in Canada or British Columbia specifically? My father is contemplating selling the house and settling debts in a city where he will not be able to support himself due to high rental rates.

More specifically is there a legitimate company that will help a homeowner on disability? If not, what are my father's options? At this point he's desperate.
