I've spent this past year trying to become more financially independent. I've done plenty of research on the topic of budgeting, I've started keeping a log of where all of my money goes, and I've been cooking my own meals at home. My weakness is shopping, though. It never used to be, as I would save a majority of the money I earned from my first few jobs, but now I think I'm in the mind frame of "I'm an adult, and I can do whatever I want, YAY!"
My boyfriend, who I live with, isn't great with money either. I feel like we both splurge the same ways, but the difference is that he makes more than double what I make, therefore he's in the better position to do so. I don't know if I'm subconsciously trying to compete with that or if I'm just trying to make things more equal, but something needs to change.
Thankfully, I don't have a credit card, so I can only spend what I have, but I really want/need to start saving. I don't like living paycheck to paycheck or being a few days late on payments. I'm not sure where to go from here.
