My boyfriend (36) and I (28F)have been together for almost 5 years, living together for 3. He has a contract position making about 40,000 a year. He's had this job for about 4 years. After deciding to really focus on our finances, the two of us sat down for an honest conversation. He ended up telling me that he hasn't filed his taxes for this job since starting. We've always been paycheck to paycheck until I recently got a well paying job and started paying off my debts and budgeting. He is ashamed and sorry, obviously. I don't think he realizes how serious this is and what a huge impact on our lives this could have. I'm not sure I really do either. Can someone help me out and answer a few questions? Where should we go from here? How do we find out his total tax debt? Also, before anyone tells me to just leave him, I would never leave someone due to a fuck up like this. We all make mistakes.. however, I would leave someone if he chose not to work on getting rid of the debt and being better in the future. He's an amazing guy and we have a great relationship otherwise and I just want to figure this out.. Thanks in advance!
