So I know cards that offer rewards are not the most frugal because they make you spend more, but I have been making this stupid mistake. So I have probably "bought" about $400 worth of gift cards using my points, and today I was going to do it again. A $100 gift card is 13,900 points at my bank's reward site. I usually buy gift cards because the products on there are way "overpriced", ie new ipad costing 47,711 points. So anyways today I saw that I could actually just redeem my points for cash back and it's 10,000 points for $100. So I have wasted about $160 by buying gift cards instead of opting for cash. Ugh I'm such an idiot.
TDLR: Used points for gift cards instead of the more valuable cash back option.
