I'm currently doing a DIY project to add a French cleat system to my garage - seems like a rite of passage around these parts. I used a stud finder to mark where each stud was on my rails, and I get to one and try to drive the screw in - and it won't go. I'm cursing "What the hell!?" and then I realize... There is a 1" black pipe natural gas line behind this wall. I only know that because I renovated and put up dry wall about a year ago in there.Had I not realized it, I probably would have really tried driving in that screw and I might have punctured the line.I want to prevent this from happening in the future - not particularly for me, but for the next guy who comes in and tries to hang something.Any ideas? Maybe some really thin orange or red tape on the wall where the line goes? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2ndEBFk
