So I hadn't heard of this sub before, but was advised to seek advice on people's opinions from here on my situation.

I'm 28 and having worked for 3 years at my last company, I was drawn into a new job. It was a good pay jump from what I was on (25%?) And in a different industry and area that I thought I'd enjoy.

My last company I was very happy, hadn't looked at leaving, wasn't desperate for money as I was living comfortably enough.

I was given offers to stay which would have cut the pay bump at the new place to 15% but I decided to go. I'd sat on the offer for a few weeks and a friend of mine advised you may regret if you didn't try and had turned the offer down.

Well, here I am 2 months into the job and I'm thinking how much better the old place was. It could be that I'm still bedding and learning the ropes, but I feel I'm not being given much work to get on with, whereas I was sought out on a range of issues at my old one so was never stuck for something to do.

How long should I give the new place? At the moment I've stuck a 6 month point in my head (so another 4 months) to see if things improve. But in my head I'm already justifying going back. The convenience of getting to work, the friends, the work. I'd also try and push for an offer to mean the pay cut is only 10%, though no idea how successful I will be at that. When I was being made offers to stay it was only numbers given, I never tried to negotiate it up.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
