So I live in an incredibly old apartment - it’s a Grade II listed building. The windows are terrible.

Granted, I knew this before moving in, but was assured that it wasn’t too bad on cost.

There are only electric heaters on the walls, and up until the past 4 weeks, I’ve barely touched them - except in the room where I work - and it’s never really seemed to cost too much. I know they aren’t cheap compared to gas central heating, but I can’t do anything about this right now.

Recently the bad weather hit, and I needed to heat the house more, still putting them on only a few hours in the day and evening, my bill just came through at £295 for the month. This is absolutely insane, the energy company aren’t really helping, and it’s so much money I really can’t afford!

I’m just wondering if there are any cheaper heating solutions? I’ve got a small Halogen heater now, because I read they were cheaper, but it’s not really enough as the rooms are fairly big with high ceilings.

It may sound crazy, but I even considered buying a ton of cheap candles to try and drum up some heat!

Any advice would be greatly appreciate, because I’m sick of being cold!!

EDIT: Just to clarify - I’m wearing clothes in bed- I’ve been taking a hot water bottle with me. I’ve got thickish curtains (can’t afford to replace, curtains are expensive!), I’m trying to stick to one room when possible but the whole apartment is like an ice cube and trips to the bathroom really suck!
