I'm a paranoid person by nature.

Say my bank gets hacked and all of my stocks/bonds/ETFs are stolen. My bank no longer holds records of my holdings and I have no way of proving my ownership of these assets. What do I do? How can I recover my money? Is there some government organization or intermediary that knows what my holdings were and can help me recover them?
