My husband has been working at a retail AT&T store for a little over a year as a sales associate. He was working 40 hours a week at $10.25/hr (Oregon minimum wage) to support our family of three including our 5 year old daughter. Today, the AT&T corporate managers traveled from store to store to evaluate each employee. Assuming this was a standard end of the year evaluation he went into the interview positive and confident. Then, they laid him off. Four days before Christmas, they let him go. He did not get that $1,000 bonus AT&T promised its employees, but instead, his final paycheck.

We are sitting here stunned, but hopefully he can find swift employment as like most families making less than $30,000 a year, we are living paycheck to paycheck despite every effort to save.
