I broke my glasses (they were beyond repair and the lenses damaged). My insurance won't pay for a new pair of frames/lenses for at least a year. Ooof! So this was my frugal solution.
I found a super cute pair of frames at a thrift sore - they looked super cute, brand name, and still in really good shape. Used an online re-lens company to have them updated with my prescription.
I was concerned that it would be poor quality when I got them back, but I am rather impressed. I am going to do this again with another pair so I can have a back up pair of glasses.
This was the breakdown: Used (like new) frames: $3.25 Shipping $5.25 Lens service (lenses, replacement, and shipping back): $29.00 Total: $37.50
Note: I was replacing a pair of glasses that cost me over $300 out of pocket - so this what quite the win for me.
