Hi all. So I’m in the middle of a renovation, and I’ve been trying to get some smart home devices worked into the house. I have a couple Philips hue bulbs which I enjoyed, and some 5050 LED light strips with a WiFi adapter that can work into smart hubs. However none of this can be used because we don’t have many internet options with our choices being limited to Hugh’s Net and AT&T due to location. Currently we have an AT&T home base which only allows 10 devices to connect. Me and my wife take care of my grandparents and have 2 adopted children. That’s already 6 devices in phones alone, not to mention the Apple TV, DirecTV box and a few computers, usually we have to lock devices off as it is. I was wondering what options we had for bringing our home up to date without running everything through our router. I don’t want to hook up another router to it specifically for smart home devices cause that will probably still narrow the bandwidth beyond useable levels, not to mention it would make a different network that you would have to connect to to use any devices. What are your recommendations for smart devices that don’t require a slot on a router? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2A1bWwe
