I live in WA state where the retail tax is 9.6%. I just finished a trial membership for L.A. Fitness and requested them to write down how much it will cost for me to sign up so I can think about it.
When they have me the cost, it says tax: 10%. In a google search I found that gym membership is considered retail tax and should be 9.6%.
Are businesses allowed to round up tax? It’s only an additional $.60 or something but still, is this legal?
